My Poetry

Forget me:

World forget me

Forget how I laughed until my ribs burst

Forget how I lived for wisteria trees

Forget how I loved fairy lights and night drives

Forget how I devoured stories whether someone else’s or my own

Forget my failed dreams

Forget my mistakes

Forget how I loved the smell of rain

Forget how I liked to sew

Forget how I danced to music in my room, crying my heart out over what to some was just some words and a tune

Forget how I loved food more than I was meant to

Forget how I always chose Diet Coke instead of regular because my mum made me

Forget how I liked to look out of the window and watch the sunset

Forget how I had to be frigid cold to sleep

Now forget it

That’s the thing

Once you’ve learned something about a person, it’s hard to forget

When they leave the memories haunt you

Whenever you hear the song

Sit under the tree

Drive past the house

Because loving is like a promise

As long as you love something, you’ll never truly get away from it

As long as you love something, it can still break your heart

A whiff of syrup and you can be six again, the morning after your first sleepover

No one is ever truly forgotten

Just remembered badly

You can never be fully erased
